The Regulatory, Legal & IPR Committee
Chair – Kledi Kodra, Grant Thorton

The committee’s aim is to continuously monitor and interact with Albania’s regulatory bodies related to their rules and practices. It aims to contribute to having an adequate legal framework, providing information and recommendations to relevant institutions and members. It informs and educates members on legislation-related developments in a timely manner, sending legal information on a quarterly basis. The committee also lobbies, raises awareness and drafts strategies on IPR-related issues. The Committee also covers public procurement processes and works closely with other committees.

Changes in legislation and regulations affect business operations, and the Regulatory, Legal and IPR Committee helps AmCham members with its expertise, providing not only up-to-date information but also avenues of dialogue and cooperation with all regulatory institutions implementing these changes.

The Regulatory, Legal and IPR Committee plays a key role in implementing the AmCham Investment Agenda through the institutional cooperation that is needed to implement the recommendations.

At its latest meeting, the head of the committee, Kledi Kodra, and committee members made a summary of activities held during 2021 and a preliminary assessment of the most interesting topics that needed to be included in the 2022 plan.

Committee members focused their discussions on the need to raise awareness on the work and mission of the committee, by informing members about the work that the committee does, the possible consultancy it can provide and to encourage members to approach the committee and work together to lobby on issues of concern that could bring about positive changes in the business climate.

The committee discussed organizing dedicated meetings with members, split by business category, as well as smaller group meetings that could be an alternative to promote the committee’s potential and to address emerging issues efficiently.
