The American Chamber of Commerce in Albania organized its General Assembly Meeting, a significant event that gathers its broad membership and elects new leaders for its Board. The event was graced by the presence of the Minister of Finance and Economy, Mr. Ervin Mete, and the Charge d’Affaires of the American Embassy in Tirana, Mr. David Wisner. The Assembly’s voting process served to elect the President, Secretary, and two Board members.
The Chamber has evolved and grown as an organization, becoming well-prepared to face new challenges. This sentiment was conveyed by the outgoing President, Enio Jaco, who, in his presentation, provided an overview of the Chamber’s work, its impact on the business environment, and the forthcoming challenges.
During his speech, Mr. Mullaj emphasized that the American Chamber reflects its impact through its statistics, boasting the highest member retention rate in its history, a strong base of American companies, and successful lobbying efforts. The Executive Director, Mr. Neritan Mullaj, expressed his gratitude to Mr. Enio Jaço for his substantial contribution and active engagement during his six-year tenure on the Board.
Mr. Ervin Mete, the Minister of Finance and Economy, expressed his willingness to collaborate with the American Chamber to improve the business climate, not only for AmCham members but also for the entire business community, and to develop sustainable macroeconomic parameters.
The Charge d’Affaires of the American Embassy in Tirana, Mr. David Wisner, highlighted the enduring friendship between the two nations as the cornerstone of bilateral economic relations’ development and efforts to increase American investments in the country. Mr. Wisner commended the American Chamber for its work in promoting new initiatives, such as the Smart City Conference, and assured close cooperation in the future.
Members Choose New Board Leaders
The General Assembly serves also to elect the new Board members. The vacant positions were those of the President, the Secretary, and two Board members. During the second session, all candidates introduced themselves to the members, outlining their platforms on how they envisioned contributing to the American Chamber’s Board.
After the voting process, the winners were announced: Mr. Grant Van Cleve as the President of AmCham, Mr. Dritan Nako as the Secretary, Mr. Ilir Rudi and Mr. Reshard Këlliçi as Board Members.
