As part of the Move Up Program, IFC and the AmCham Albania successfully delivered the fourth training module, dedicated to Transport and Distribution Management. The session was designed to enhance participants’ capabilities in planning, managing, and optimizing transportation and distribution operations in an increasingly complex business environment.
The module was led by Cristina Radu, who provided businesses with practical, hands-on insights into selecting the most appropriate transport modes, optimizing transportation costs, and ensuring timely and cost-efficient delivery. By integrating both operational and strategic perspectives, the training enabled participants to better understand how to improve distribution performance, minimize inefficiencies, and effectively respond to rising customer expectations in competitive markets.
The training covered a range of key topics, including:
- Modal choice strategies (road, rail, sea, air, and intermodal transport)
- Freight and carrier management
- Transportation planning and scheduling
- Distribution network design and management
- Transport management technologies
- Key performance indicators in transport and distribution
- Customer service expectations, particularly in order fulfilment and delivery performance
Through this module, participants were equipped with practical tools and actionable knowledge to build more resilient, responsive, and efficient transport and distribution systems. The session also contributed to strengthening decision-making processes and improving service quality across the supply chain.
Importantly, the training offered valuable insights for operating in the European Union market, where businesses face strong competition and must meet rigorous regulatory standards. By enhancing these competencies, participants are better positioned to navigate market challenges and drive improved operational performance.
