This day brought another important perspective on how Albania is viewed by key U.S. institutions and what it will take to attract greater investment in the years ahead.

Meetings with the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) highlighted growing interest in sectors such as AI, digital infrastructure, data centers, telecommunications, logistics, healthcare, financial services, and defense-related industries, areas where Albania has the potential to play a larger regional role.

The discussions reaffirmed that Albania’s stability, NATO membership, strategic location, and strong partnership with the United States are significant advantages. At the same time, the path to attracting more investment remains closely linked to strengthening the rule of law, transparency, governance, predictability, and effective public-private dialogue.

One message from the State Department stood out:

“Success brings success.”

The idea is simple but powerful. The most effective way to attract new investors is to create the conditions for existing investors to succeed. Successful American businesses operating in Albania become the country’s strongest ambassadors, helping build the reputation, confidence, and credibility that attract further investment.

The opportunity for Albania is clear. Our challenge is to create more success stories that demonstrate, through results, that Albania is a place where businesses can grow, invest, and thrive.
