In an effort to strengthen business capacity and enhance clarity around tax procedures, the American Chamber of Commerce in Albania (AmCham), in partnership with the General Directorate of Taxes, delivered a comprehensive training session on the new online application process for double taxation avoidance agreements. The session was led by Bledar Hamzallari, Director of the Tax Audit Directorate, and Kesilda Ajdini, Head of the Double Taxation Sector, who provided an in-depth overview of the legal updates and key procedural changes. Particular attention was given to the practical aspects of completing the new online forms, highlighting common challenges and critical points businesses should carefully address. AmCham Albania’s Executive Director, Neritan Mullaj, underscored the importance of such initiatives in bridging the gap between public institutions and the private sector. He emphasized that, through continued cooperation with the tax authorities, AmCham aims to foster an open and constructive dialogue, enabling businesses to access clear, direct guidance from experts.
Alketa Uruçi, Chair of the Tax and Customs Committee, noted that the recent procedural changes mark an important step toward the digitalization and modernization of tax services. At the same time, she stressed that the success of such reforms depends on proper understanding and accurate implementation by the business community. The training was highly interactive, with participants actively engaging and seeking detailed clarification on the new application requirements and supporting documentation. Representatives from the General Directorate of Taxes not only addressed questions during the session but also committed to providing ongoing, case-by-case support to AmCham members navigating the application of double taxation legislation.
Strengthened collaboration between public institutions and the private sector remains key to building a stable and predictable fiscal environment. This training stands as a practical example of that partnership in action and offers a valuable platform for addressing uncertainties related to the implementation of new procedures.
