The Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy organized the 300 MW hybrid photovoltaic auction, the first of this kind held in Albania. MEI in this process had the cooperation and support of the Swiss Government through SECO and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Ms. Belinda Balluku empathized that in this project investors secure the land and make all other investments, while the Government guarantees the purchase of electricity at a reasonable price. Ms. Balluku said that the Government aims to make Albania an energy exporting country.
Ambassador of Switzerland to Albania, Ruth Hube, and EBRD Director Gianpiero Nacci appreciated this auction and the value it will bring to energy production in our country.
Later, the auction was held with the participation of 9 national and international consortia. “Solar Park Gjorica”, merger of “Solar Park Gjorica”, “INFOTelecom” Sh.p.k. (Albania) and “Adame Global Enerji San. & Tic. As” (Turkey), with the offer of an installed capacity of 35.6 MW and a price of 39.7 Euros per MW/hour, was declared the first winner and received the green light of implementation.
“We appreciate the development of this auction through a completely transparent bidding process in the eyes of the public, with a cooperation and a very fruitful expertise with the Swiss partners and the EBRD. This development has been carried out with a European standard and has created a transparency precedent that increases trust of national and international companies to public initiatives”, Mr. Gjonaj said.
