The Chairman of the Board of Gjonaj Group Holdings, Mr. Marin Gjonaj, participated at the Western Balkans Roundtable in Brussels, invited by the American Chamber of Commerce of Albania (AmCham Albania) and the American Chamber of Commerce of Serbia. This important forum was organized by the American Chambers of the Western Balkans in cooperation with the European Commission.
In his speech, Mr. Gjonaj highlighted the importance of managing CBAM tax rules for renewable energy in sales from the Western Balkans to European Union countries. Aligning trade and industrial agreements with the EU is crucial for business in the Western Balkans. He addressed CBAM rules regarding electricity produced from renewable sources, as well as other related regulations. The CBAM coefficients for the Western Balkans and the application of EU-certified verifiers were also emphasized.
“Gjonaj Group is an Albanian enterprise operating in telecommunications and energy across the Balkans and beyond. We are interested in collaborating with the American Chambers in the region and their members in these countries. The integration of our region into the EU begins with partnerships within the Western Balkans and extends to cooperation with European business partners and the European Commission. This forum is very important for understanding CBAM regulations and clarifying investment opportunities in renewable energy production in the Western Balkans. Mr. Gjonaj participated in a discussion panel with senior leaders of AmCham Kosovo, AmCham North Macedonia, AmCham Serbia, and AmCham Bosnia, as well as directors and experts from the European Commission’s Directorates-General, including DG ENER (Energy), DG ENEST (Enlargement), DG Trade (Trade), DG TAXUD (Taxation and Fiscal Measures), and senior CEFTA officials.
